Buddhism

Buddhist teachings are not a religion, they are a science of mind.

- The Dalai Lama

Buddhism is a wonderful practice that has a lot to offer anyone who wishes to travel down one of it's many paths. It truly encourages the exploration of all science and is the only religion that is completely compatible with all known scientific knowledge. It does not require that you worship a god, does not dictate your actions via dogma, and can make anyone that practices it a better person. I highly recommend learning as much as you can about Buddhism and recommend meditation on a daily basis.

But Budhati is not a Buddhist work. It does use many ideas that are compatible with Buddhism, and some of the terminology used here is the same or similar as that in some Buddhist sects. But particularly in sexual matters this site has taken a very different path. So I do take pains on this site not to deliberately corrupt or misrepresent Buddhist ideals and practices.

Some Buddhist quotes that describe better than I ever could, the essence of this amazing practice:

The Paradox of Our Age:
We have bigger houses but smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicines, but less healthiness;
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We built more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;
We have become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;
Tall man but short character;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It's a time when there is much in the window, but nothing in the room.

The mind is everything. What you think you become.

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.
-         Buddha

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.
